My name is Melissa Gardner and I teach MTA at Walker Elementary. I have taught for 17 years with the last 9 years being in Crandall ISD.
After completing my bachelor's degree in elementary education from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, I went on to complete my master's degree in early childhood education from the University of New Orleans.
Over the course of my career, I have taught several grade levels, including 2nd grade and kindergarten. I believe that building a strong foundation of academic skills is vital for the success of the student for years to come! I have had the privilege of teaching the MTA curriculum for the past 4 years and I love watching my students achieve their goals. My students have to work extremely hard but they constantly rise to the occasion and make me so very proud!
My husband, Jason, and I have been married for 18 years. He teaches technology classes at Crandall High School. We have four wonderful children who are also proud Crandall Pirates! Leah is 14, Andrew is 12, and our twins, Evan & Caleb, are 11. Our kids keep us busy with volleyball, band, and baseball. I also enjoy playing the piano, cooking, and traveling.
I look forward to working with you and your student!
