Crandall ISD has five graduating students sign Letter of Intent for Ready, Set, Teach Program

July 30, 2020

Crandall ISD’s Ready, Set, Teach Program is designed to encourage students to pursue the field of education by providing students with a field-based internship. And five CISD grads are set to take that experience on to the next level in their collegiate pursuits.

Mallory Smith, Chris Clark, Grace Cox, Kylie Thomas and Linzie Page are all among the CHS Class of 2020, and all will pursue a career in education next year at college.

The CHS internship program helps students gain the knowledge they need for future success in the classroom as teachers, trainers, paraprofessionals, or other educational personnel. Lesley Harrell, who has been involved in the program for seven years, says the reward for both students and the district is immeasurable.

It is also reaping benefits for the district.

CISD has hired its first returning graduate, Brennan Barnett, for the 2020-21 school year. Brennan will be teaching first grade at Walker Elementary School.

Graduating students enrolled in this program must complete the following requirements before they are eligible for hire:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Maintaining a 3.0 GPA in college
  • Passing all necessary certification exams
  • Clean criminal background check
  • Recommended by university for standard teaching certificate

Students who wish to participate in the program must maintain a 3.25 average GPA their Junior and Senior years and graduate with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
